Anime list (no ratings on some of the completed shows because I can't remember them): https://myanimelist.net/animelist/herenti
I have seen a ton of anime, so it is hard to really say what my favorites are. I have been watching for so long that i can't remember some shows that I really liked. If I had to list a top 12 in no order, it would probably be:
Gintama, Steins Gate, Lovely Complex, GTO, AKira, Clannad+Afterstory, Trigun, FLCL season 1, Ouran Host Club, March Comes Like A Lion, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and 2003, and of course all of the Ghibli movies. I have been a Ghibli fan since I was about 4 years old and they really mean a lot to me.
Some lesser known titles that I always have to suggest to people:
Noein, Last exile, Darker Than Black, Wolf's Rain, Gankutsuo the Count of Monte Cristo, Tatami Galaxy, Gosick, and Hana Yori Dango.
Noein was one of my earlier series. I watched it when I was in the 5th grade and it got me into science. It is a tiny bit rough around the edges but it has a super unique plot and amazing music. Here is an example of the OST:

If you have not heard of Darker than black, it is like the OG edgy anime that a lot of the newer ones really want to be lol. Anyway check out the other ones as well; they are all gems.
▼Favorite music
I like a very wide variety of music, but I tend to not like super mainstream sounding stuff. I make an exception to this with anime ost tracks that I really like. I can't tell you why I suddenly like mainstream sounding stuff just because it's "anime" but that is the way it is. I like a lot of traditional style/folk music from a variety of cultures, and everything from The Beatles to Beethoven. Here is a French folk group that does some really cool music:

Cool right? I also love classical indian music. Here is what i consider to be a good example of it that I really like. It is also great for meditation:

In a completely different direction here is some scandinavian? folk music:

I also love a bit of Queen sometimes!

Did i mention that i like anime music? Because i do!!!! Here are a few favorites:

That one was by the composer Yuki Kajiura that does a lot of stuff I really like.

I am sure you know that one. If you have not seen that movie go and see it now!

That one is from one of the lesser known anime i mentioned, Gosick.

A classic one.

From one of my favorite shows, but NANA does not make my top lists just because they never finished it :( I still have hope that one day they will.

Probably my #1... Haruhi supremacy!!!
▼Favorite movies
I have lost interest in most western movies in recent years, as I feel like there is a lot of the same kind of stuff coming out that I have already seen 1000 times growing up. However, there are still plenty of really good ones. I won't be adding any anime movies to this list.
Some of my past favorites include: Fight Club, Swiss Army Man, The Shining, The Usual Suspects, Clockwork Orange, 2001 a Space Odyssey (I am a Kubrick fan for sure haha), Inception, Interstellar, The lord of the Rings trilogy, 28 Days Later, Up, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, 12 Monkeys, and recently I really enjoyed the Christopher Nolan Odyssey movie.
Some of my favorites growing up were:
The Black Cauldron, The Indian in the Cupboard, Jumanji (the original of course), The Pagemaster, The Secret of NIMH, all the classic Disney movies, the first Harry Potter movie, the classic Pixar films, Milo and Otis, and more that i can't think of off the top in my head. If you have not seen The Black Cauldron definitely check it out! It is certainly Disney's darkest film, and certainly gave me nightmares as a very little kid, but it is super cool and I loved it anyway. Very 80's sword and sorcery vibes. My biggest issue with modern Disney is that they don't do hand drawn animation anymore, and I just don't have any interest in the cheap looking computer animation that they do. It does not age nearly as well either.
▼Favorite books
I grew up reading a ton of books from a pretty young age. I am a millennial so I grew up right in the time of Twilight and Harry potter. To get this out of the way now, as someone who is LGBT myself, I still love Harry potter. Obviously I do not support or agree with anything J.K.R says but I am certainly not going to let her take away one of the most important parts of my childhood because she is being an ignoramus maximus. If anyone disagrees with my decision on this, or wants to police what content I consume, they can keep it to themselves because I don't have time for it. I have lived long enough that I have come to the conclusion that many of my favorite artists and creators probably have horrible skeletons in their closets, and I have matured enough that I can critique their art separately from that. For example another one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman, has done some super stupid things. I still love those books though.
Listing my all time favorite books is difficult as I have just read so many that I probably can't think back on them all. Some I really liked at the time but I might not like them as much now. Here is an attempt.
Some of my all time favorites:
The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Roverandom (Tolkien), Diana Wynne Jones books, Where the Red Fern Grows (Wilson Rawls), Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series (Douglas Adams), Discworld books (Terry Pratchett), The Charlie Bone series (Jenna Nimmo), The Boggart (Susan Cooper), Over Sea and Under Stone (Susan Cooper), The Twilight series (lol don't judge), Harry Potter series, The Abhorsen series (Garth Nix), The Keys to the Kingdom series (Garth nix), One Last Stop (Casey McQuiston), The Airborn Trilogy (Kenneth Oppel), Once Upon a Broken Heart series (Stephanie Garber), Slumdog Millionaire (Vikas Swarup, also called Q & A), Life of Pi (Yann Martel), Neverwhere (Neil Gaiman), The Magician's Nephew (C. S. Lewis), The Way of KIngs (Brandon Sanderson), Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol (Charles Dickens), A Wizard of Earthsea (Ursula K. Le Guin), His Dark Materials (Phillip Pullman), and Probably many more I can't think of right now.
